Russian service to have drug articles on Wiki checked again
MOSCOW, Nov 27 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service will send Wikipedia stories to the drug control for additional expertise, the communications authority’s press secretary Vadim Ampelonsky said late Thursday.
“The editor community has introduced substantial corrections to the articles, while they were in the register. Certain sections, which were found by the Federal Drug Control Service illegal, were fully deleted, and some sections underwent detailed and target revisions,” Ampelonsky said after a meeting of Wikipedia’s editors with representatives of the communications, drug control and consumer rights services.
“The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media has no competence to say whether the revised articles comply with the law. That is why they were submitted for a secondary expertise to the Federal Drug Control Service.”
Wikipedia’s editors actively participated in the revision of the articles and continue cooperating, Ampelonsky said.
Representatives of Wikipedia’s editors suggested formalizing rules of writing articles for the free online encyclopedia on the most “socially sensitive” topics.
“We receive decisions that say that some information is illegal from time to time, and it’s necessary to create channels of constant interrelation,” the communications authority’s press secretary said.
The communications service said Monday that it would add four articles of Wikipedia to the register of forbidden information, as they contained information on the order of preparation and use of drugs.
Blocking of any article of Wikipedia will lead to the resource’s full closure, because it uses the HTTPS protocol.
